300 Lemon Explosion and 301 Meli Melon
Lancôme recently launched their Juicy Shakers, a lip oil in cocktail-shaker like packaging. I had never tried lip oils before, I’d never been particularly interested, but Lancôme’s quirky packaging, the shade range and fun ads drew me in.

301 Meli Melon and 300 Lemon Explosion
What Lancôme about the Juicy Shakers:
Shake shake shake, dab dab dab!! The newest lip revolution has landed! It’s time to ban the boring and get fruity with our new Juicy Shaker lip gloss.
Our ultimate lip gloss has a bi phased formula pairing nourishing lip oils with beautiful pigments for plump but natural looking, glossy lips. These nourishing oils contain sweet almond oil, omega 3 and cranberry oil. The healthy oils your lips lust after!
The cushion applicator feels soft to the touch, allowing the gloss to melt onto the lips. Like a sponge, the applicator absorbs just the right dose of pigment. The shape hugs the lips contours so you cannot go wrong. Thanks to the nourishing oils, the formula is non sticky and non-drying, making lips feel soft and kissable!
All in all, there are about 20 shades, not all of them are available in every location. I purchased shades 300 Lemon Explosion and 301 Meli Melon from selfridges.co.uk as I couldn’t wait for them to come to stores here. Lemon Explosion looks peach in the bottle with shimmers running through it but it comes off pretty much clear. Meli Melon on the other hand is a beautiful mid-tone pink with no shimmers and it has a better color-payoff.
To use the product you need to shake them (like a cocktail shaker) to mesh the oil and pigment in the bottle. There are a couple of little beads in there to make this easier so you don’t have to shake too vigorously. The applicator is a fat cone-shaped sponge which picks up product when you shake the product and then use to dab it on. I do admit that once the novelty wore off I didn’t find myself reaching for these that much as I couldn’t be bothered with the extra step. I’m lazy like that.
They feel very light on the lips, they definitely do not feel like a lip gloss. They go on glossy at first, then lose that gloss gradually when the oil sinks into your lips but the pigment remains. As a lip treatment they are great and I have even worn these to bed because I wanted to wake up with moisturised and happy lips. I wouldn’t say that they have great staying power, but then I didn’t really expect that of a product like this. I definitely feel that I need to reapply every couple of hours.

The colors are quite sheer. Lemon Explosion is all but transparent and the glitter in the bottle doesn’t really translate to the lips. If I had to judge the Juicy Shaker on that shade alone I’d call them a dud but Meli Melon is a beautiful, subtle pink that, while sheer, does show up on the lips and is the perfect everyday lip product to throw in your handbag.
Overall I really enjoy the Juicy Shakers. I don’t think you need them all, a couple will more than suffice, but I do recommend you look at these in-store and swatch them before buying if you’d like to avoid buying the super-sheer ones or two of a very similar color. Had I swatched them before purchase I probably would have skipped out on Lemon Explosion.
